PYPB 44: ...like Tetris with boxes, wires and cables

I've been interested in the Camoflange. The builder said it he would not suggest it for bass. How is it working for you? Does is work with active instruments?

It did work great for me. I had it on the board for over a year, in the end. I don't see a reason not to use it on bass. Full disclosure though, I almost exclusively play flangers with heavy fuzz in front of them and my overall sound isn't all that bass heavy (it's focused primarily on the low mids). Not entirely sure how well it works for a "clean" sound. It did a good job with active basses for me.

I sold the aftershock and bass synth wah. Moved filter duties to the hx stomp. Few weeks into this setup for my online band. So far, so good.

Got in the Dingbat Small-EX and the Source Audio EQ2, and have rebuilt. I'm routing through the channels of the EQ2 so that channel 1 is a clean boost into the SLO, and channel 2 is in the effects loop of the SLO, providing high-pass and lowpass filtering. The expression pedal control is set up to effect the volume of the channels, with clean at toe up and pretty dirty at toe down, and the volume is compensated for with the sweep, so that it stays consistent at both ends.

The space in the bottom left corner is for my Xerograph Deluxe, when it arrives.

While my F16 remains in production lockdown frustrating me to my absolute breaking point, I must make due with this board. Lots of funs sounds and wackyness to be had anyway. signal path is [sfx] mThump2 > Boss LS2 >-> Donner Harmonic Square > EHX Synth9 (Arp strings) > Mosky B-Box > SA Spectrum > Mosky D250X > SA Bass Ultrawave > Mooer Sweeper >=> @sushi Box Underground Accelerator > Zoom MS60B > TC Spark mini (for when the d@@n drummer and guitar player get too loud -- always! )

I think this will be mine for the next little while. As much as I like pedals, I realized (after thousands of dollars) effects weren't for me. Still like utility pedals. Cable management was a PITA, but I'm pretty proud of the results.

My boards from 2017. Guitar on the left, bass on the right.

My last guitar board. Realized I was sitting on a gold mine and wasn't playing much guitar anymore. Sold everything and bought a new bass.

Ok, as much as I was THRILLED with what I was getting out of my board the last couple of gigs, I still have other pieces I need to audition, just to see if I can actually make it even more awesomer! The core components haven't changed, The Noble is still the brains of this operation, but this is Rev. 3(could be 4, just not sure, LOL!).

Set the Empress on the bench for a minute, and brought in the LA-1A. Also benched the B7KU and put the MBD2 back in the game.

I'll gig this version Wednesday and Friday, unless it sucks, which I highly doubt, but if it does, I'll gig it Wed., change it Thurs., and gig whatever I change it to on Fri.

I hope it sounds awesome, so I can gig Dingwalls on Wed. and Spectors on Fri.:bassist:

I tried a DC-2w on bass. I didn't really like it. I don't remember it being a frequency issue. It was just the sound on bass didn't work for me. I loaned it to my guitarist. He hasn't turned it off yet. Goes great with a Rick into a Vox AC30. Super jangly. I am using a Jam Waterfall Bass. It is incredible.

Nice board!
Is the DC-2w any good on bass?
I used to have an original DC-2, switching in on was like turning of the bass. It ate all the bass-frequencies.
I sold it to my git**r-player who made good use of it.

Oddly enough, I dig it! I always feel like modulation on bass, in a live context, almost needs to be over the top to even be heard. That is the reason I don't just use the HX Stomp for that, some of the effects are just too subtle. The DC-2W, to me, walks that line of sounding right on bass and being thick enough to make a difference. I found that the "S" mode sounds thicker and fuller than the "SD-320" mode.

My other preferred chorus pedals are the Strymon Mobius, which I may put back on, and the Keeley Seafoam+. The Keeley is a fantastic chorus pedal.

Here's my latest iteration.

I've upgraded the board yesterday. Took every pedal off, cleaned them all individually, cleaned up the board itself and redid the wiring.

The new stuff: I'm now using EBS High Performance flat patch cables. I've switched out my trusty MXR Bass Envelope Filter with JoshWah and I absolutely love the JoshWah. I've tried to beat my MXR BEF with a few filters now, and JoshWah is the first one to succeed. I've also replaced my old MadBean LowRider octaver with MXR Bass Octave Deluxe. It feels and sounds like a great meat and potatoes analog filter.

Still gotta do a few final touch ups with the cabling underneath but that's it for now.

I meant meat and potatoes octaver, not filter.

Anyways, I just stumbled upon HBE Psilocybe phaser today, and, well, ordered it. I was curious about it years ago, so might as well test it out against my Phase 100 which served me well since 2013. I guess I'm back into pedal buying mode sickness again... and I love it.

I am really interested to hear how you like the Psilocybe compared to the Phase 100. The Psilocybe has been my go-to bass phaser since like, 2008. It is fantastic! I've always been interested in the Phase 100 though and often wondered if I need one of those too.

On the Phase 100, is there a setting that you keep dialed in all the time or do you change it up?

Thanks! Looking forward to it.
I mostly use it with the intensity knob all the way left (most pronounced effect) and my go to standard setting is with speed at 11 o clock. I also have a particular use for one of the songs we do with the speed knob at 3 o clock. Sometimes I play around with the speed knob but the intensity is at its fullest 99% of the time.
