Q-tron comparison question

Uh... neither are Q-Trons! :p

AFAIK, there's no difference other than size and price. The Nano Bassballs is supposed to be the same pedal, only smaller!

When I tried out the Nano Bassballs a few months ago, it did sound the same as the original... so I wouldn't even bother with the old one :D

The Bassballs is a bit tricky to set up (its controls are simple but finicky), but it's a cool and unique filter sound that no other pedal out there will get. :cool:

OH... wait. One of them's the Russian model!

I'm not sure how it compares to the American or Nano versions. :hmm:

I'm sure there's been a thread on it before, though. Just search for Russian and NYC Bassballs comparisons, since the Nano is pretty much the same as the American one.

I personally own the full-size NYC pedal. Not for sound though, because I opened that sucker up and tweaked the trimpots a bit... Mainly for looks... :D Although as my pedalboard fills up, I am thinking about replacing everything with the smaller pedals... :crying:
Like Spanky, I found that out of the box, the Nano didn't sound all that great. I'm sure that you could do some tweaking and get what you wanted out of it though. The Russian one sounds good enough, but I didn't like that there was no DC power plug (on the one that I was looking at) and that the jacks were very cheap plastic. Although, at half the price of the nano, the Russian one doesn't look too bad.

for My 2 cents a long time ago I tried out a Qtron + but was annoyed when I found out the + couldn't be turned off so if You(s) are still looking for a big set up the Q tron and the Rocktron Heart Attack work well together, sorta like Q tron +/- and then some with the added distortion.

I tried the Q-tron once (hoping for that Sir Psycho Sexy sound) and was thoroughly disappointed. I fiddled with the knobs continuously for a full 45 minutes, using the same bass I have at home, and it just sounded dead (I was using a power supply). There was a bit of a volume spike (which I personally like) but the sound as a whole was just weak. Maybe it was just a dodgy...

If you want the real Sir Psycho Sexy or My Lovely Man sound, you need to get a Mu-Tron III and stick dying batteries in it. But the Bassballs gets really really close in distortion mode. It's the reason that I have one. Because, honestly, I can't stand how this thing sounds without distortion. :spit:

I actually like the big ones, more MOJO :D.

I'm actually trying to decide whether to get a full sized qtron+ or the new XO version that's just been anounced. I might go with the full sized becasue I know i'm not going to be putting it on my main board so size isn't an issue :D.
