Hi, I have the electro-harmonix Q-Tron. Its not the plus or mini just the regular. I'm wondering if any of you guys would care to share some cool settings you've found with me. thanks.
Yeah, sure. I find that setting the peak at 11 (yes, this pedal really DOES go to 11; it says so in the instructions) is not always the best idea. It means the gain will overload at a lower setting, and that doesn't give me the sound I want. I've only discovered these settings in recent days. Otherwise: Range: Low Boost Switch: Off Mode: BP Drive Switch: Up The Q-Tron is the greatest pedal ever made. Enjoy these settings, with my compliments.
Here is a link to my Soundclip page. There is a clip of me playing slap on the Q-Tron+ XO with my active bass (Excuse the mistakes, I'm a bit rusty ): http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=916354&content=music The settings are: Drive Switch - Up Mode - LP Response - Slow Range - Lo Peak - 3:00 Gain - 1:00 Boost - Off There is also a clip of me playing fingerstyle with the same bass, but also through a Blowtorch and a Stereo Electric Mistress. I think the settings are roughly the same. But I'll record a clip with just the Q-Tron playing fingerstyle later.
When I had my Q-Tron I tried the settings from a photo of Flea's pedal board from the "pedal board of the stars" thread. I tweaked it slightly and found a sweet spot that I liked.
i took my mine out the other day, hadn't had it out in years. i was using it with my oc-2 and sansamp bass PBDDI. Using a 90 musicman stingray, with bass lines replaced pickup and circuits. heres my settings. Drive Switch - Up Mode - mix Range - Lo Peak - between 9 and 1 (o'clock) Gain - this realy various for instruments but mine was set between 5 and 6 Boost - Off id like to hear other peoples settings too.
OOOOOh I do I do!!!!! With a blend loop it is funky-tastic!!!! Occasionally it is too funky for the song, but not often.
If you've got an old first run one like I do, I suspect (based on your description) that yours are labeled backward. LP=Lowpass, BP=Bandpass, and HP=Highpass. Unless yours is like mine; LP=Highpass, BP=Bandpass and HP=Lowpass. Without a blend loop, LP is the only way to go unless you don't mind completely eating your bass for lunch. Put in a blend loop the HP and BP (printed on mine as LP and BP) are super funkier than the LP IMO.
Hi there, I'm having a really hard time finding a good setting with my Tobias Growler (active). In fact, unless the Peak is set to the max. I get almost no funk in the sound (at LP and Drive Lo--which are the recommended settings for Bass from EH). I also find that unless the Gain is kept very close to the min., the red overload light comes on. Is that a problem? Should I be avoiding the overload light? Any help would be appreciated.
