Question about '95 P Bass Special Active "Cowpoke"

I thought about doing something similar with my last one. If I recall, the knob's are further apart on the Cowpoke so I don't think so... however,

The 'top' on the cow poke is pretty think. It requires that you rout away some to be able to mount std length shaft pots - I was going 62 RI Stack pot passive in mine and I couldn't find them in long shaft. That could bit you inthe butt anyway, particularly if you stack the thickness of the plate onto the body.

So - You could just take away the top material that would be under the control plate - it isn't like you aren't going to have screw holes if you pull the plate off and at $300 used it isn't like you're devaluing a Stradivarius ... Sell it with the control plate on if you sell...

I got real close to doing that as I thought the Tele control plate would look nice on that bass. Sold it before I went that far. One thing for sure - for the $300 that a CP brings - you can do far worse. They can be great playing basses. I've had two and while I've moved on - I still remember those basses fondly.
