question about composition..

hey there janek, first off, belated happy birthday! now on to the question and its really just a simple one.. when you compose pieces, do you also write the drum beat? ive recently gotten into composition and while i have no problem with the melody and bass.. i cant do anything about drum notation.. especially in odd time signatures..

I never write out drum parts unless it's a percussion part for an orchestral or scored piece of music. I instead hire drummers who I know will interpret the music I write with a similar thought process to mine. And of course the complete opposite when I don't know what I'm looking for drum wise, I'll hire someone who I know with challenge me and have different ideas from anything I would ever have thought of. thus bringing new life and ideas into the music.
