Question about Duncan Designed J PUPS

I have an all maple Squire 75 Jazz with the Duncan Designed pickups. When I play it at full volume it sounds lightly distorted. Is this normal, or am I just having my ear trained to my other basses which all have humbuckers in them and are active. If it is the pups can you offer a recommendation to solve it.

Anyone else have this issue with this bass?

Distorted at high volume?
Then turn down gain of your amp.
Maybe the pickup is too close to the strings? Bring it down to reduce output.

Mine does not distort.
