Question about purchasing Ibanez sr300

I was visiting some online music stores because I was planning on purchasing an Ibanez sr300 in an iron pewter finish for my brother's new band and I've noticed the picture of the Ibanez sr300 in an iron pewter is the previous model with the mid sweeper rather than the current model with the 3-band eq. I would know that the mid sweeper on the previous Ibanez sr300 is a different kind of mid-range control that's optimized for finger style and slap style. anywho, my question is if I purchase that particular Ibanez sr300, would I get the previous model or the current model. here's a link of the previous model on musician's friend.

They also have the current model on musician's friend, but it's only available in deep violet metallic and metallic grey.

So what do you guy think. If I buy the Ibanez sr300 in an iron pewter finish, would I receive the previous model or the current model?

Yeah--call them.
The 2013 model year marked the start of Ibanez putting the nicer EQB-IIID preamp in the SR300 (and up) which used to be standard on SR500 and higher models for years before they started getting the slightly better EQB-IIIS 3-band EQ w/mid frequency switch. Lots of online stores are still selling 2012 and older stock, which is why the prices are a little higher on the ones with the new EQ, and the color choices are different.

The IIID pre cuts mids at a different frequency than it boosts them, which is very clever if you like those frequencies.

On my older SR500 the preamp is great for what I do (progressive rock/metal) although I must admit that I set my amp so it sounds great with the bass's EQ flat, and only change any of the knobs a tiny bit for different songs.

@KeithAlanK I know...I own a 2013 Ibanez sr305 in an iron pewter finish and it sounded awesome. I also like the idea of the 3-band eq. and that's pretty much why I asked if I purchase the Ibanez sr300 that still has the picture of the previous model. would I get that model rather than the current model. but I can see from your perspective that some online stores are still selling the previous Ibanez sr300 and sr305. so I guess this answer my question. but I still dig the sound quality of the Ibanez sr300. rather if it's the previous model that has the mid sweeper control or the current model that has the 3-band eq. but I'll definitely give them a call and see if they do carry the current model in an iron pewter finish.
