Question about shifting

One thing that I've noticed some time more than others, is that while moving up and down the fretboard, I can sometimes hear the vvlllloooooooop sound of my left hand sliding through the amp.


What's the best way to counter this?

Are you talking of the string sequel as your hand moves on the string. Silicon spray.

Practice, Practice, Practice. You have to learn to lift your finger completely off the string without making noise & move to the next note. There is more than 1 way to do it. Find ways that work best with your hands then, you guessed it ... Practice, Practice, Practice.

The best way I can describe it is that it's like a soft slide.

My main problem with this come when I'm trying to play wriiten music. It seems that I keep my fingers too close to the strings, but it really helps when I have to switch between positions and I remember the locations of the frets more easily.

Faster switch and softer touch. When you're playing softly you should shift & fret fast but light. It takes a while to get used to but shifting from 10th to 3rd should SOUND seamless. Or as close as you can be at least
