I’m looking at their jazz roundwounds that are 32”. My bass has a 30” scale. Will those strings work without winding some of the wound part on the post? Thanks for any info!

Question about TI short scale strings

TI "short scale" = 35.5" in winding length (ball end to taper/silk), which is at the long end of "medium scale" by most other manufacturers. So, the chances are some of the full winding will end up wrapping around the E tuner post.
Measure the distance on your bass from where the ball end is seated to the E tuner post to find out exactly how much of the full winding will have to wrap around the post.

Thanks. The measurement from ball to center of E string post is 34”. The bass is a Stingray short scale. Looks like there will be some wrapping before the silk.
So, that's roughly 1.5" of full winding wrapping around the post. Considering the TI Jazz Rounds are very flexible, you might be okay with it as long as you're careful with the initial installation.
Between the two, I would try the BN first. They're specifically designed for short-scale for optimal tonal balance as well as balanced feel across all four strings. Their winding length of 32.75" (ball end to taper/silk) is just right for your bass.
I actually have a BN set hanging around so before I spend $80+ on the TIs I’ll try them. Thanks again for your help!
No, Jazz Rounds are 32’s. JR-432, it’s in the model number. I have them on my Short Scale Stingray and love them. They’re on my L2K as well. My L1K has the TI Flats.
I just bought the last pack in the TB store!I've been looking for some nice strings to put on my Kramer Duke, and the 'short' TI round set 35.5" in winding length (ball end to taper/silk) is exactly, precisely the perfect length for my 1984 Duke with 30.75" scale length. ( plus I love the feel of those strings).
Cost more than CAD$100 (USD$20 for the slow shipping!) - but still a bargain imho

Nice! A direct comparison. How much of 'speaking area' of the E string did you have to wrap around the post? You don't seem to think whatever that was is a problem, so you really like how they sound on the SS Stingray? I just got mine and am itching to try different strings though what came with sound very nice.
I've used these strings on a Gibson SG bass(fat posts on the tuners). There was some winding on the post but it wasn't a problem. These are really nice strings. That SG bass currently has a set of long scale Dogal Helborg strings. These are also also nice strings but tricky to mount on a short scale bass due to their stranded core: I almost lost the E string.
Here is a photo of the headstock on my bass. I seem to recall measuring and crimping the E string about an inch after the string tapers down in width. As can be seen in the photo, the light green silk ends and string wraps half way around before it comes off the post.
The tuning machines on these Sterlings are really cheap but the bass, especially the E string, manages to stay in tune. I don’t know if I would have been as comfortable snipping TI flats as I was with the rounds.
The bottom lines is the rounds and sound great. I like the lower tension and love the lighter gauge. I you prefer heavy gauge strings and higher string tension, stay away. If you play with a lighter touch and enjoy bending strings, they could be a dream come true for you.
