Question for Avatar owners

While doing some research on avatar cabinets I discovered that they have a removable back panel. This is a foreign concept to me. My concern is that over time this will rattle loose from excessive vibrations causing unwanted noise. Anybody have any problems with this?

I am very interested in their cabs i am just concerned about their reliability in the long run ... Someone please reassure me!!!!!

Hi there,

What model are you looking at? I have a 210 Cab but the only way to the innards is by pulling a speaker from the front. This is a 2008 model but I don't think they've changed the cabs. I'll drop by the web site and take a look. I'm thinking you may have been looking at a Guitar Cab.

I have the 210, and let me reassure you, it is solid like a rock.
These guys turn out some great quality at an affordable price.
My personal opinion is that it sounds as good as any 210 out there.
Just my 2 cents.

Aside from the specifics concerning Avatar, I'm trying to imagine any decent cab that did a removable back panel that would just rattle loose over time. A cab with that level of engineering/build quality would have me more concerned about the drivers falling out before the back panel ever had a chance to cause a problem. OP, given Avatar's reputation, regardless of whether or not the back panel is removable, I think you're safe.

OK ... I may be misinformed ... it was just a question ... being that avatar cabinets are not available in stores, I have to rely on research and the people of talk bass for this information.

if i were to purchase an avatar cab ... it would be my first non-SWR cab ever!!!!!!!!!!

Marshall 4x12 cabs have had removable back pannels and never have had a problem with rattles although I suppose bass freqs could be worse over the long run

When you think about it, nearly all cabinets have plywood pannels that attach to cleats, the difference in attachment is either just screws, or screws & glue; see no reason why just screws couldn't be made to work, downside being exposed fasteners and aesthetics

Just to clarify....the Avatar guitar cabs have removable back panels which can be ordered fully closed or partially open.

Most cabs I remember from the sixties had removable panels and the speakers were rear loaded. As time marched on, the trend evolved to what it is today.
