Question for rack users

For those of you who use rack set-ups... Do you prefer all your stuff in one rack, or do you split them up between two or more? What are your reasons for either? Convenience, weight, function, etc. I'm anticipating putting together a rack system & would like to learn from your experiences before finding out some things the hard way. Also, give any reasons pro & con for going to the max ie., power amp, pre-amp, effects, power conditioner, tuner, cooling, drawers, etc.
I'm just kicking around ideas right now so I'd like to hear them all.

I tried combining everything into one, but the weight was killing my back, so I separated the power amp from my preamp.power conditioner/compressor. The power amp has its own 2-space rack which stacks on top of the other rack, so it works out great.

I go with the power amp in its own 2 space case. It is just easier to move around and only a couple extra connections at the gig.

Orginally I bought a 6U Road Ready case for my SVT4PRO head, Tuner, Compressor and Power Conditioner. Then I decided that my head needs more cooling, so I decided to get a 10U Road Ready case and even though it is bulky it does the job perfectly well.

Top to bottom:

Furman Power Conditioner
Korg DTR1000 tuner
DBX 160A compressor
4 empty spaces
Ampeg SVT4PRO head

Yeah, like i said im getting a road ready shockmount case, thats coming in at about £185 for a 4U shockmount model

I know some people say SKB and other ABS style cases are the way to go, and i know they say they can handle the weight of heavier amps, but, i dont know, i have an 8U SKB shockmount case than im going to try to sell because i dont feel secure about it

search for road ready cases on ebay, there is only 1 or 2 places that sell them, they can get in the shockmount versions
