Question for the Reverend Dub King players

So I'm a short scale guy. I've been considering the Reverend Dub King. I'm not a big guy and I'm concerned about the body size. I tried a couple different hollowbody basses like the Gretsch 6071and a Schecter Corvair and found them to be too big for me. Has anyone found this to be the case for them with the Dub King?

I am no help on the Dub King, but for a similar price short scale hollowbody in a manageable body size I would check out the Lakland Skyline HB30.

I have the Linh Le version of the DK and I love it but make no mistake, IMO it feels like a full size bass although it plays like a a short scale. The body size and bridge placement make it feel that way. I have a Squier Rascal that I’m also fond of with the same attributes .

Perhaps a Reverend Sentinel? You may have to roll the tone all the way off to get the dub sound, but it is a supremely comfortable short scale with a lower mass body than the Dub King.

+1 on the Sentinel- I own one and ergonomically it’s one of my favorite shorties and sonically it’s off the charts!

I'm a bigger guy who switched to short scale about a year ago. Most of the short scales still feel really small to me - the Schecter in question is possibly the largest feeling of the group.

I played a Dub King a couple times. Great tone for that. Did not feel as large as the Schecter, but I really disliked how it hung on my shoulder.

+1 to the Reverend Sentinel - it is just a great bass that plays and sounds as it should. Reverend guys have patiently listened to me and my cosmetic need for a maple fingerboard.

I'm 5'7", 140 lbs. I have no problem with the size of the body. I love the way it plays and sounds. I also dig that it's lighter in weight than most of my basses. It balances well with whatever strap I use. It's a very cool bass.

if only you could try one. This is like doing a fitting for a suit without your presence. I have one because it appeared at the local GC and I played it, was amazed, it was used and not too much money and a color I love which always helps. but a small bodied bass anyway with a great sound (one of the basses with EB Cobalt flats, rounds were too bright, came with nice Roto flats but the bass has beautiful mids from the bodywood (imo) and nice eq circuitry... the only thing that is "large" is the width of the strings compared with my 5stringers, but it's in the same range as a lot of P basses, and I'm sure that somewhere there is a 4'10" Asian woman playing one with no problem. I'm 5'8" and it's fine, but often I play 35" scale which helps low B.

Gigged mine yesterday. I play everything from 35" - 30" and occasionally 28". It has a very unique (to me) tonal palette that fits well in the genre I use it for. Very comfortable for me and extremely "playable". Great action! I also got a Reverend strap on a whim. Great strap. Matches my bass (cream) and makes me look much cooler than I am! But with all that I hope you get to try before you buy.

I was gonna mention Linh Le. She's not a particularly big person and she seems to handler her DK just fine.

I ordered a Dub King yesterday! I originally had my eye on a Rascal, I loved the green and the looks of it. Finally played one last week and could not vibe at all. I kept going back and forth between the DK and a Mercalli 4 but I found a DK with a case for $800 so I pulled the trigger. Avo burst will be coming next week!

That color is so cool. I bought a used, untaken care of, old orange one. It must be an earlier bass as the neck, sides and back are the same color as the top. Reverend switched to black on the neck sides and back, when, I don't know. Enjoy that beauty.
