Question on my Jag and P Bass

As mentioned above I have a Fender Jaguar and a Mike Dirnt P Bass. I normally gig with my Jag and bring the Dirnt for a back up, but lately have been using both and I've noticed that the P Bass is much louder than the Jag (when the Jag is in passive mode). My question is, is this normal? For those of you not familar with the Jag it is very similar in tone to the Fender Jazz, so I guess I could also be asking if a P is normally louder than a J. It is no big deal, I am just curious.

The Dirnt P has a relatively hot pickup, which would make it louder.

This can be counteracted by lowering the pickup on the P and raising them on the Jag to even them out.

In my case I say yes...If I switch between my Jazz Bass to my P-Bass I have to turn the vol. and bass down on my amp..
