I am trying to work with scales exercises given to me from a Starke book. The page says "Tonleitern in einer Oktave" and it has 7157 at the bottom.
For example, the first scale is C Major. Am I to stay on the "A" string for the entire scale other than playing an open D and open G while shifting on the fingerboard? Or, do I stay in the first position and play up (i.e C on "A", D, E, F on "D", and G, A B, C on the "G" string) the strings (shifting to I 1/2 position for the B and C)?
I am asking this because on the A melodic minor scale it states DS ("D" string) while others do not mention another string.
Any advice would be appreciated.
