I'm considering an upgrade my current studio / live mixer, a Behringer X2222USB and thinking about the Zoom L-20 mixer / studio. I'm not clear on how it will interface with my DAW, currently Cakewalk. Per the Zoom Specs it specifies 22 tracks in / 4 out, which is similar to the Behringer USB connection (Stereo out not individual channels). With help from the folks here I was able to use the inserts from the 8 XLR channels and go directly to my USB interface bypassing the tone and fader circuit on the mixer (Tascam US 16x08).
I was hoping that someone that has an L-20 unit might be able to provide some clarification. My thoughts are that upgrading to an L-20 would provide at least 18 tracks direct to my DAW separate from the Tascam USB (which would provide additional tracks, 8 XLR, 8 Line\Inst). I understand that the Zoom Pre's are pretty decent and the ability to be able use the unit as portable mixer with recording capability and multi-monitor mixes are a significant improvement over the Behringer.
