Question re: Powered Hot Spot Monitors

I have one of the original, white-faced, powered Hot Spots.

Still works great!

Can I run a powered signal into it, and, if so, how?

I need to connect it to the output of a separate monitor amp just like a floor wedge instead of using the Hot Spot's internal amp.

Anyone know how?

You’d have to open it up and disconnect the speaker wire from the speakers (i.e. from the internal amp. Then run new speaker wire from the speaker to a new input jack that you’d have to install somewhere in the cabinet.

Something just came to mind, don't the powered versions only have a single driver? If so, they're not good for more than 40 watts or so. In addition t watching the power input, it would be advisable to high pass them pretty high, maybe 200 Hz, to avoid frying the speaker.

It's a fairly delicate speaker in a not a very efficient cab, and pushing more watts into it won't likely give you much better performance before you fry the driver. So I'm curious: if the monitor is working fine, why bypass the internal amp?

Buy a real monitor and call it a day.
