Question regarding Fender bass finishes/necks

I've recently been in the market for a bass. I was leaning towards a rickenbacker 4003 but ultimately decided that at my age (18) I need something versatile that can suit me in any situation, and a Fender can do just that. Maybe when I'm older...

Pointless back-story aside, is there a way to actually request what neck type and finish I want? I normally for the most part only see those sunburst/rosewoods or black/rosewoods at Sam Ash and GC. If I want an all-black finish with a maple neck, how would I go about obtaining it? Suggestions would be much appreciated

Fender makes the both the American Special Jazz Bass and Precision Bass in that color/neck combination. If that's more bass than you want right now, the Fender Standard Jazz and Precision (MIM) also come in that configuration. Check out the Fender website.

American Standard models come available in black with maple boards (gloss on the fingerboard, and satin on the back of neck). The GC stores here in my area all carried the Jazz in that configuration.
