Questions about a recently acquired Gibson G3

Does anyone happen to know the string spacing on a G3. The bridge on this bass is absolute trash IMO. I’m partial to the Hipshot B-style bridge. I want to maintain the string-through capability. Should I open a new thread on this?

I think you need to check the wiring.. while these are super punchy, mine does not lack lows. The only decent recording I have of mine from an old band where you can really hear it:

Not our best work, but that’s for another thread the issues the drummer caused with this demo. Tone is real nice on Coming Home & lots of lows in Somewhere Else.

Signal chain is G3, played with fingers (new NYXL strings), Trace Elliot SMX comp>Trace V4 DI. Little bit of EQ in Logic and amp set flat with a slight mid drop. All 3 pups on.

My G3 is believed to be pre-production and has a wired to turn off the middle pup off. Gets very, very close to a P with just the neck pup on. Actually so much low end it’s a little muddy.

There's nothing wrong with the bridge. Get a cover for it.
