Questions about recording/software

I am debating buying one of these:

But I was wondering...

What will I need to record with this cable? Just a software package? What do you recommend?

Could I possibly plug this into my FX loop, then into my computer, and play through my head to keep my EQ? If not, I will probably buy a good modeling software or something.

If you do not already have a suitable recording software, you can download Audacity for free here.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

It should do nicely for a basic recording application.

man, trust your instincts, for someone who claims to know nothing about recording you seem to have hit the nail on the head. There's nothing wrong with what you're suggesting, and any application that will recognise a USB Audio Codec input device will work. Start with the free stuff until you get a feel for what you want out of your software. I highly recommend Ableton Live and/or Adobe Audition.

Alright cool

I guess that cable comes with some 30 day trials of some good programs, so Ill try those out, and when they expire, Ill find another program.
