questions for future use. re: new build

Greetings fellow bassists and craftsmen of your trade. I have a sentimental story but wish to not bore the forum with mine so I'll keep it the short version. In short I no longer have a meaningful bass in my possession. I do however have the neck and electronics to the said bass which happened to have been 1 Epi Les Paul bass. 2 years later i now wish to involve myself in the frankenbass theory i hear so often.
I have 2 options at hand 1 being find inanimate object and add my neck and pick ups and Vuala i'll have a custom bass (ala toilet seat bass) or pick up a few pointers from you folks and carve and shape my very own bass, ofcourse using my neck & pick ups. so in any case Im just your average Dude with a paycheck to paycheck job meaning I dont have such luxuries as the tools alot of you craftmen/carpenters have on hand. Now with this into consideration when it comes my my having to make my neck and pick up slots as in the pic bellow.. how would I make the depressions in the wood/object and maintain an honest novice approach. I can get my hands on sand paper and maybe an electric sander. and for sure a chisel and saws of sorts. any and all help will be greatly appreciated and taken into consideration.

For you the best bet would either be to buy a cheap router, make a template that fits your neck heel, and route it out slowly(many passes, small amounts each time) OR borrow/buy/rent a dril press, and use a forstner bit to take most of the material out, and then a chisel and files to clean up the rest of the routes.

If you don't knwo what either of these are, search them on the forums, and you will see many MANY projects involving these methods.
