There are SO many guitars and basses available with quilted finish. Is it just fashionable or did it just become easier? Is there a sonic implication?

Come to that, what of thru-necks? Is that sonically justified?

thru necks - great, feel nice and sound goooooooood

QMT - not great, very ugly in my shallow honest opinion
