Myself, whenever I think of a Stingray, I think of a natural finish with a black pickguard. What do you think is the most popular, or "standard" MM color combo?
My first one was one of the worst...that brown/walnut transparent laquer that chipped off if you sneezed the wrong way while playing it. But my current one...black! It's SOOOOO cool! Classic EB color. Pre EB- probably the sunburst with the black pickguard and the white pickup and a maple board.
When I think of a Stingray, I always think of Tony Levin peach. And my trans blue burst fiver. But that doesn't exactly count.
Some sort of Burst or a brighter color is what i think of. E.g. either a burst, orange or reddish color. Maple Board though.
Black/black or natural/tort. The coolest color, though (just because it's so rude) is the one on Tony Levin's Barbie 5. It was intended to be salmon, but somebody made the observation that it's exactly the color of Barbie flesh. Pink. The name stuck, and the color got discontinued. I saw TL in Kingston in October, and the darned thing really is pink. What's cool about it is under stage lighting, it NEVER looks pink.
I always think of black with white or black pickguard. My favorite color was either blue dawn or burnt apple, but they got discontinued which kinda sucks.
I had a 1980 Natural finish with maple board and black guard. Very sweet. Now I have a honeyburst with maple board and tort guard. Also a sweet combination.
