R&B Players, what are you using?

Wow, I thought this tread was dead! It is good to see it wasn't. I rock a Eden Wt550, with a Epi PS410, but I'm getting ready to get a Genz Benz NEOX112T because the band i work with always has PA support, the 410 is over kill.
This was my response back in 2011, now I have added other equipment depending on the size of the venue and if I have PA support. I’ll use my Genz Benz Shuttle Max 12.0 with tw0 focus 112 cabinets or wit Hartke HX 210 & 115 cabinets.

P bass with flats (Chromes.)
Ampeg PF 500 amp.
Ampeg 2 12 av cab.
Old school blues with a fair amount of Motown and Stax stuff. Two piece brass section and sometimes a harp player.
If it's a really big place I might break out the old 8 10e. It's been relegated to back up so it's always in the truck.
If I really want to impress the newbies , I'll pull out the SVT classic head but the PF pretty much covers anything I need these days.

How do u find that pf head in terms of versatility? I’m thinking of buying one!

It took a little more dialing in than the SVT head but it seems to handle everything the SVT did very well. If you like the SVT sound , this will work well for you. I can get it to dig in almost as good as the big head. There were early reliability issues but mine is about two years old and has been gigging regularly without a hiccup. It likes 4 ohms. I haven't tried it at 8 but right now I don't have any 8 ohm cabs so I can't really comment on how well it works with one. Treat it like a tube head and always have the speakers connected before powering it up. There is a small possibility of a short out when plugging in a speaker to a powered up amp and I am sure if that happens it won't be good for the amp. With the 2 12 , it has been PLENTY loud for anything I have needed it for. I run it with both the gain and volume at around noon and the guitar at 60 to 80%. Clipping light doesn't even flash at these levels. Eleven pounds and fits in a lap top bag.

edit; I've done a couple of big venues with it and the D.I. works very well too. One sound guy complained that it wasn't putting out a strong signal but he was a real putz that didn't seem to know what he was doing. Feedback all night long and the sound was all over the place. Personally I think he had me on -15 db and couldn't figure that out. Everyone else that ran out of the D.I. had no problems whatsoever.
