brad was underrated, man.
i used to consume a lot of critters buggin in highschool and college. his playing is pure excellence.
so few people know how to rock while they play "not necessarily rock" music. he was so good at that.
his groove and sense of time were up there with pastorius and others.

Brad was on here sometimes as well and I really enjoyed his posts. RIP and condolences to family and friends.
I've been meaning to check out Critters Buggin, but never have. Which album should I start with?
Oh man. What a bummer. Have had the pleasure of seeing him jam with Mike Dillon quite a few times.
Oh man, that sucks. RIP to a great player. The only time I saw him live was when he was playing with John Doe, and he was killer.

His fretless playing on "what I am" by Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians is probably why that song was a top 10 hit- and why it continues to endure. It was so inspiring to hear such great bass playing all over the radio and MTV as a kid. What a groove. Gone way too soon.
Spot on, right here. it goes down in the canon of songs where a fretless part helped propel it to hit status, like Paul Young w/Pino.

I was in my first couple of years in college when the first New Bohemians album came out. I was also learning bass and attacked a couple of songs as best I could. At some point I wanted to use the line from Love Like We Do as the closer for a media talk show I never got around to doing. Later I would see him playing with Bob Schneider.
He was fantastic and yet another overlooked great.

I agree he was very underrated.
Sad news. I didn't know until a little awhile ago. He suffered a stroke. He was only 62.

I remember seeing him play with Mike Dillon and Skerik as The Dead Kenny Gs and it was one of the coolest shows I've ever seen, RIP he'll be missed
