I don't know how much he teaches, but try Shawn Conley. He has both teaching and performance diplomas from Francois and studied with Paul Ellison at Rice. He's an incredibly multi-talented bassist and one of the best musicians I know. Also a very nice guy.

Nick Walker teaches in Ithaca. He's great, but that might be a tough commute from NYC.
