Rack Mount Synths...

So is there a multiple effects processor that's purely synths? Is there such a thing? If so, is there such a thing that's rack mounted that I could run through an fx loop? Could I use the bass or would I have to get a midi keyboard? Just tossing around some ideas. I remember reading a thread about a rack mounted synth, but it didn't really answer my questions.

Roland's guitar and bass synth stuff. With the pickup and the processor element. they have the V-bass which is made to be used with a bass. It's pretty awesome sounding
