RANT: i like youtube... but..

I can attest to this.. I play this game called Tribes (made in 97 by Dynamix), and whenever new people come to play on the mod I play on, I give them the hardest time ever. Why? Usually boredom, it makes me laugh (i don't suck you're gay, etc.) and you can usually weed out the immature 10 year old boys from the guys who just want to play the game in a matter of minutes. The ones who are just like 'ok', I typically leave alone, and usually end up liking. However, I don't go on the web to random sites like youtube and do this; that somehow seems lame to me

HA! i played that game like... 6years ago in high school!!! that seriously is one of the best computer games ive played. having dial up.... playing an online game... having to learn how to "time the lag" so i could get kills... it was awesome haha.

Seriously. That's the internet for you. Now everybody can use it, not just geeks, it's the biggest collection of idiots ever. I've stated before that talkbass is actually BY FAR the best community I've ever had the pleasure (yes, pleasure) of reading and posting in. So just don't let the idiots in here

i know thats how the internet is.. but i was just ranting on youtube because even knowing how the internet is.. that place is by far the worst place ive ever been online.. i mean not even halo2 has that much guys that talk trash.

Not really looking for any particular answer, just some insight. I mean, if you don't want to read or hear stupid comments, then why upload to someplace where any asshat with a keyboard can bag on it?

Like I said, I probably just don't "get it." Uploading oneself to YouTube, blogs about one's personal life, etc ... just seems like unbridled narcissism to me.

What I haven't done is film such a session and upload it onto the web. Yet people do just that all the time, and then they're all indignant when the teeming hordes of mouthbreathers post, "YOU SUCK!!11!"

If it sounds like I'm picking on you, I don't mean to be. I just don't understand such behavior, and you provided a convenient example.

well considering i did it once..trying out a new camera and the site..i can't speak for everyone...

but i think a lot of humans love attention no matter what kind and like showing off. there are also A LOT of bad ass music videos on there so perhaps they just want to join the community....plus who knows how big it will get....it may be the band audition method of the future :-0
