Shout out to a couple of old friends' band "Stampede."
BTW: I think that's a 4000.

But before that, he wrote a notable chunk of the British Invasion songbook….
“Between 1965 and 1967 alone, he wrote "For Your Love", "Heart Full of Soul" and "Evil Hearted You" for the Yardbirds, "Look Through Any Window" (with Charles Silverman) and "Bus Stop" for the Hollies, "Listen People", "No Milk Today" and "East West" for Herman's Hermits, "Pamela, Pamela" and "The Impossible Years" for Wayne Fontana, "Behind the Door" for St. Louis Union (later covered by Cher), "Tallyman" for Jeff Beck and "Going Home", which was a 1967 Australian hit for Normie Rowe.”

Martin Turner of Wishbone Ash used to play a Rickenbacker 4001 in Jetglo finish, which he used on every Wishbone album up to Argus. Sometime after that album was recorded, the headstock on the Rick broke and Martin eventually moved onto playing a Gibson Thunderbird.

Tom Petty owned a few Rickenbacker instruments and I swear I saw him playing a Ric bass in a video somewhere, I think he was backing Johnny Cash on Johnny's cover project he did late in life.

That photo was when he was sitting in with labelmate Dwight Twilley’s band.
