I recently bought I Sub bass and don't have much to complain about for the price. My only question is, where can I buy the maple neck I saw on other models or can I buy a used or new sting ray neck with the wider neck at the nut. Thanks!

No necks on ebay last time I checked, but you can always buy a used SUB, plenty around, and swap necks. Several with maple necks for under $200 at Guitar Center. I'd like a trans white one with a maple fretboard.

What do you expect to happen to the sound or feel with maple in that bass? Cuz I suspect it will be a very subtle change in recorded tone if even significant enough to notice.
I've played maple and rosewood and other wood fretboard rays and they all vary between instruments of the same wood as they do between different wood. After all, it's only the fretboard wood you're talking about, not the neck. The neck is maple on both.
Some super expensive rays have rosewood necks, but all subs, even USA ones, have maple necks like 99% of all stingrays do. Yes, fretboard matters a little bit but not that much.
Edit... Not trying to be a damper on things... Just sounds like an expensive thing to do to an inexpensive bass for an unlikely change, other than guaranteed cosmetic difference.

I agree, there's actually little difference between the rosewood fretboard and maple, well enough to warrant buying a new neck altogether. The only ones with the maple neck for the Sterling Sub Rays are the black one and the mint green one.
Also to answer the OP, if you want a wider neck at the nut, it wouldn't make much sense replacing a neck on an inexpensive Sub Ray- Better to save up for a used EBMM Ray.
You could try Guitar Center used: there's one currently for $184. They'll send it to your door for around $20 or less. add tax so we're looking at perhaps around $210 for this one. I bought two Sub Rays from GC for $139 and $159 (white and walnut finish)- they have them cheap sometimes, but they also get bought pretty quickly. Normally, they're about $199 used.
