Hey all. Been lurking a few months and decided to join. Nice forums!
"Played" bass long ago with friends. But over time the bass stayed more and more in its case deep in the closet. Learned a few songs and made up some but have since forgotten most but still OK at the basics of finding way around fretboard. So now actively trying to learn some songs and get a little better.
Cant recall 1st bass that i got in early 90s. I traded it to a friend for a steinberger or similar bass. Traded that in for a ibanez tr series around y2k im guessing. Traded that for my current eb0.
My son got a guitar so got him some lessons. While he did his thing i messed with all the basses in the store. Decided i wanted to play again and realized i didnt like how my tr played. Also, i would always dork on guitars but play fingerstyle like a bass so decided to try out shortscales. Read a lot here and locally able to try eb0, bronco and mikro. Went with a used 2001 MIK eb0 [didnt realize that old when got it..older than all my kids
]. Enjoy how it feels and didnt want to spend too much for something that might end up in closet again.
Really like playing off tab apps on phone or tablet. Beats desktop or just books/printouts. So far practicing old school punk (descendents, black flag, minutemen/firehose) and classic rock (led zep, sabbath, cream and ccr). Have kept up with playing a few days a week since restarting in late summer. Having fun.
And a pic of my eb0. Read all the comments here about them and other shorties. Still stock but might get new bridge. Maybe/maybe not pickup (like the chrome) and maybe add bridge pickup (but like the simplicity) and maybe flats (never tried anything but rounds before). Was always into modding bmx bikes and computers but never thought about bass mods for some reason.
