Re27 help!

So I'm doing a sound job now. I was using an EV RE 27/nd on the kick drum and it was doing great. Suddenly it cut out in the middle of the set. It wasn't dropped, kicked, or impacted in any way. It was secure on it's stand. I switched thru 3 cables and got nothing. Tried another channel, nothing. Switched out with a Beta 52a and everything's working again. I brought the Re27 back to the board with me. I muted a mic I was using on an open channel for talkback...using the meters I saw the tb mic was working. I switched the tb mic with the re27...nothing. I need to take a look at the mic more carefully at home, but can anyone give me some potential problems to look for? The mic has never given me trouble. Like I said it was secure on it's stand. I have no idea why it suddenly cut out. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi.

IME sudden death microphone problems point 9 times out of 10 to a broken connection inside the housing.
Capsule related problems are IME very rare.

Open 'er up and go through the solder joints and leads one by one.

Assuming of course the mic is Yours.
If it's not, do ask if it's all right to have a go at it.

Those were my initial thoughts, too. Yes, the mic is mine. I'll probably be performing exploratory surgery later this evening. I was very surprised that it failed like that. I also thought it was interesting that the bar owner came up to me after the gig and asked, "What happened to the mic? I noticed the sound was different and I came to ask you about it and saw the mic on the desk. It just didn't sound like you usually make it sound." The only thing this guy knows about running his system is that he needs to hire out someone who knows how to run it...and he noticed the difference. Te Beta was good, but different. They're both excellent mics, but yeah...different characteristics.
