Real Quick ohms question!!

my head puts out 800 watts at 2 ohms 500 at 4 and 300 at 8. If i use two 4ohm cabs will that equal 2 ohms (and 800 watts)?? thanks

We're all assuming your speakers will be wired in parallel. A reasonable assumption for most amps. However, if they are wired in series then you will get 4 + 4 = 8 ohms.

If it is a Carvin B800 and you are plugging each speaker into one of the speakon jacks located on the back panel, then it's safe to assume they are wired in parallel and you are loading the amp with 2 ohms. Can't find the actual manual on-line so can't confirm.

Hmmm.. I think I gave out advice too quickly. You have a point.. 'assuming' is a lazy and potenially gear-damaging way of thinking... much better to physically CHECK out any changes before implementation on amps/cabs. Thanks for pointing that out.
