Really silly cab question

If you put your ear up to the tweeter on your cab can you hear anything coming directly from the tweeter? I was messing with the attenuator yesterday, and while I hear the difference in the overall sound of the cab, I noticed that I couldn't hear anything directly from the tweeter itself. I assume this is part of how our ears pickup on treble response.

*Disclaimer* Before putting your ear right against the cab, please turn the volume down. :smug:

As long as your hearing is still good, you should hear 'something'. On noisier amps, you should hear the 'hissing' through the tweeter with it becoming more prominent as you reduce the attenuation for example. clicking of strings, etc also become more prominent. Yes you should hear something directly from the tweeter.

The hiss is always detectable for me. It is subtle, but there.
Crank the highs a bit, and you should hear it. If you do that and still
hear no noise, your tweeter protection circuit, the tweeter itself, or
perhaps the x-over may be hosed. :crying:
