Reason Record

I am considering purchasing this software and was wondering if anyone on the forum had experiences of this software. I have been using other daws for years but i am sick of some of the problems associated with third party plugins.

Reaper was affordable to everyone in the band, did what we needed, and that way we could more easily work on projects, as we are spread out all over the state.
We don't use a whole lot of 3rd party plug-ins though, (some Waves stuff, Toontrack EZ/Superior Drummer).

Just FYI - Reason/Record will NOT RUN ANY PLUGINS! Only what comes with the software.

Reason has there own format now. They call them rack extensions. But there are very few. There are some really good drum re-fills if you need more drum triggering.

I really like reason. I like how the "rack" works. The workflow for me is the best. Reason 7 now has a lot of features that other daws have, but with some neat twists. Also reason out of the box is loaded with virtual instruments and effects. Some people like them. Others don't. But I feel because of the way the rack works you can make some unique combinations to get any sound your looking for. It just takes some thought and tweaking.

Good luck!

I think that can be a good thing, especially if you are having problems with third party plug-ins. This way Reason has control of everything in the recording software environment. Third party plug-ins can be a bit hit-or-miss, especially stability-wise. Integrating Record into Reason might give you all the plug-ins/modules/FX/Eq that you would need. (That is, if Reason has the plug-ins that you want/need)

My small experience with Record was that it was really stable, and pretty user friendly.
