Recipes

Hey, I love cooking and trying new food. Lately I've been visiting an Afghan kebab shop that makes the best kebabs as well as Kushbashi (beef lamb vegies cheese and spices) and Sansun (minced meat, cheese, vegies and spices). Spicy but yum!

So tell me some traditional recipes from where you are so I can look em up, cook and eat.

I do believe there is a thread that I started re: Recipes from TB'rs...:ninja:

Traditional Buffalo recipes... well theres only a few true ones, but they are classics.

Buffalo Wings
Wings - fried
1 part butter
1 part frank's hot sauce
Blue Cheese

Don't use other ingredients or it'll mess it all up.

Beef on Weck.

You take your beef and put it on a weck roll. Proceed to eat.

I just made pad thai for the first time, tough job but it turned out great. If you've never tried that one I'd really reccomend it.

I'm from Ireland. Try pototoes. you can boil 'em, fry 'em, mash 'em. chop 'em up and boil 'em in greese. lol (OK OK before I launch into a Forest Gump-esque list of ways you can cook pototoes, I shall digress)

Apart from the traditional bacon, pototoes and cabbage, we also have white pudding to go with our black/blood pudding, which, I have been told, exists in few places outside Ireland (white pudding that is). There's Irish strew. Easy recipie: throw some veg, meat and pototoes into a pot of boiling water! Add stock cube and boil. I don't know if it' specifically Irish, but pig's trotters and pig's cheek were common foods in Ireland, and I even was told tales by my mother of some pig's brain dish being prepared when she was young, although, I don't know how much of a kid's half scare story it was she used tell us.

Unfortunately, walking through the streets of Dublin, you will not get that many "Irish" culnery delights, as our taste buds have become more aquainted with Chineze, Indian, Thai, pizza joints, Burger Kings and McDonalds than "Wee Seamus' Hot Pototoe Store".

Which reminds me (God! Have I started making a longer reply than expected? ANYWAY!! lol). I was in London on one occasion, and my cousin (a Londoner) told me there was an "Irish Sandwitch Shop" in the local shopping centre. After a bit of a rolling of eyes and a mental "oh God. Leprachauns serving a tuna roll, What next?" thought, I was brought to this place. It was a normal sandwitch shop called O'Briens Irish Sandwich Store. It just so happened it was owned by an Irish guy. No leprachauns, I'm afraid. And no Guinness. And no Bono in the corner doing an acoustic set of traditional Irish drinking songs. Tears of disappintment down my face!!
