Recommend a power amp

I'd been using my old GK400RB to power my Eden Navigator preamp through Eden 410XLT cabinet, since I had it lying around doing nothing, but I'm looking to upgrade the power amp now with a little more power/headroom. The GK400RB is only 200w @4ohm, I believe). Any advice/suggestions? I don't need mega wattage, just something within the 400w @ 4ohm/600w @ 8ohm area within a reasonable price.

Carvin DCM series seems to be the entry level 'real' power amp. Lots opinions on TB about them.

Others seem to like Crown and QSC for the next step up. The Crest CA9 being the big dog on the porch (the entire Crest CA series for that matter).

for your needs I would look at the Carvin stuff as said above, in the entry level low wattage market their stuff is hard to beat and sounds great! once you start looking at QSC and crown etc. you start looking at a minimum of like 800watts bridged which is probably way more than you need and much bigger than you wanna carry ;-)

I've been interested in the Peavey IPR series. The 1600 is out now but there's a 3000, 4500 and 6000 coming soon.

Buy used and close to home, if possible. I'm a fan of the QSC RMX stuff (850, 1450) and you can probably pick one up for ~$225. More power than you need and heavy but you'll have the extra power required for addt'l speakers. I re-assigned all 4 RMX's to our PA rig.

Watts is cheap!
