Recommend a practice tool....

Anyone have any good suggestions for a take along practice tool (such as a shred neck). I've heard of a pocket picker but haven't seen any. Anyway looking for something to pack around in the car for downtimes at work and long car trips. I've heard of shred necks but they got lousy reviews so if anyone has a personal review of those let me know. Of course cost is a factor, don't want to bust open the piggy bank when I'm saving up for another bass.

Appreciate it....gang....

I'm not sure if I'm getting your drift, but I have a Fender B-DEC amp that is a practice machine. I use it for practice at the firehouse and love it!! It has teaching and performance loops, it can be used as a drum machine, has built-in tuners and effects, and best of all, you can record yourself so you can hear how you really sound.

I like to set a chord progression (or song) to move through all twelve keys, then increase by a few BPMs every time it loops though, so I can get closer to performance tempo, but gradually. I paid about $175 used for mine, but I've seen 'em for less on CraigsList.

Also, here's the Bass Guitar Magazine article that Ed references:

Good luck!
