Recommend a Rack EQ

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a rack EQ, preferably graphical. Not sure what a decent brand is for a typical bass rack, but I want it to cut back some of the higher end frequencies.

I know what they do, I know that I need one, I just need to know some reputable brands. Playing through an Ampeg SVT3-Pro head, just not happy with the built in EQ it offers. Not much customization room.

Thanks!

There's not much to mess up with a rack eq. The things you probably want to look at are the range (how much boost/cut for each band), ins/outs, and frequency range. Make sure it suits your personal needs.

dbx is pretty reputable in the rackmount arena. the dbx 131 is standard.

- +/-12db),
- TRS or XLR
-20h to 20k (with a 10-50k freq response)

i'll be that guy and suggest that a parametric would be better than a graph, especially if the desired result is mainly rolling off highs.
for graphic eq, i've always preferred the klark technic, myself
although i'm not sure if they make mono units.
can't beat an older mono urei graphic eq, either.

If you really want to customize, I'd suggest looking for a rackmount parametric EQ with 5 bands or so. I recently sold an older Rane PE15 (just an example) which allowed for re-assignment of bands 1 & 5 for variable bass and treble shelving. I don't get too excited about GEQ's although I do have one installed (free!) in my PA rig as a "rescue unit". Another option would be a smaller 3 band unit like the Presonus EQ3B although it does not offer the shelving option.
