Recommend me a decent backup/2nd bass

I do most of my gigs with my Warwick Thumb NT 5. Recently, my storage space was robbed, so I no longer have a backup bass to bring with me, just in case anything goes wrong with my main axe.

Fortunately, I had insurance, so I have some funds to buy a new bass. Budget is around $500-$700.

I need 5 strings, (at least) 24 frets and I would like an active bass. I am not looking for another Warwick (or Rockbass) at the moment.

Also, please keep in mind that I live in Norway, so suggestions should preferably be readily avaiable online. I will probably not be able to try out a lot of basses before I buy.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

The best deals I've been seeing for a bass in your price range would be for an Ibanez or a Schecter. Both make very good basses. I personally prefer Ibanez which is why I have an sr506, a btb456qm, and an atk750ka. Hopefully someone else can give you some more suggestions.

Check for some of the Ibanezs; I got my SR400 for under $300 new; while I don't think the 400 is still in their lineup, you may be able to find one that hasn't been sold yet, or a used one. Most of the Ibanezes are decent basses, and will work quite well as a back up/second/beater bass.
