Recommendation for solid state power amp <$300

Carvin? The HD1000 goes to something like 250W at 8 ohms, I think, and is under $300 new. If you don't need apocalyptic power levels that seems like it would cover you. I've been happy with it for the short time I've owned it.

The Carvin HD appealed to me because of the low 1.0v input sensitivity, sturdy build and reasonable price.
It might be short enough to fit an effects rack, rather than a full size deep rack.

My larger PLX require more input voltage to reach rated output power.
I have to use an intermediary device (Rane ME30) with my IOD to produce sufficient voltage to the PLX.
