Recommendations for new amp

I recently lost my Peavey Firebass 700 with 4x10 and 1x15 in a flood and my insurance company are paying me out about £1300-1400 for a Peavey Tour 700 plus cabs. I've recently tried the Tour with a peavey TVX 2x10 and a TVX 1x15 and I cant say Im too impressed. Im at a bit of a lose with what to buy but Im pretty sure Im only going to buy 1 cab as 9 times out of 10 I would only use the 4x10 due to transport and weight issues.

I have asked the opinions of a couple guitar shops on what they think would be worth buying for the sort of money Im looking at, one said an Ampeg SVT 7 pro with possibly a Ashdown ABM 610 cab and the other suggested a TC Electronic RH450 with BC410 and a BC212 or 2 BC212. I havent been able to play with either of these set-ups so I dont know what they sound like but I play in a classic rock band and also a metal band so Im looking for something with plenty of low end and punch. I've heard a few people say about problems with Ampeg reliability, whether its the whole range or just a particular model I dont know, and the only dealings I've had with TC Electronic was fixing someones guitar pedal that fell apart.

Does anyone think these would be worth looking at further or does anyone have any other suggestions for this price range?

2 things. First, the brand of amp will come down to personal preferences, (tone), but any brand can be used in any genre. Second, if you are sure of only needing ONE cab, I'd go with a 6x10 or 4x12, to cover any volume needs you may have. More spkrs = more volume. The 7Pro gets alot of love, and has plenty of juice for a big cab. good luck.

We all know the plethora of bass amps/cabs available. But I would reccomend to plug into a T.C. Electronic bass rig. They are UNREAL. You will be amazed. Do a search on Youtube and you can see/hear demo's/reviews of different set ups.

I was thinking of a 6x10 or 2 2x12 but I may have to look into 4x12

I have had a listen to some of the demo's and they do sound good. Im waiting for a new shop to open so I can try out the managers Staccato and 2 2x12 set-up (I think).

It doesn't look like anyone local has one but someone may be able to get one in, I will have to proper look later. Someone does have a Hartke kilo which I may have a look at
