Looking for KISS recommendations (Keep it simple) utilizing my iPad and or iPhone for a beginning bass player to:
Practice chord tones, arpeggios, scales etc...
Transcription/slowdown (I've never used one before but I know I need to start says our fearless leader!)
Looper
Can play with loaded music, SBL back tracks, etc
I currently have the Griffin cord for the iPad/iPhone
Focus rite 212
Korg beat boy
Real life application:The first song I would like to learn is Chic, Good Times. My first stop would be youtube, find a video with a 4 string bass player and try to follow the video. Its far from organized and not an efficient approach. What I would like is to find an app that would give me the tabs and the notation. I would like to learn how to read music as well as tabs. Is there an app that will give me the sheet music to songs as well as the tabs which will let me at just the tempo while displaying the notes to be played. Would love to be able to record my playing is all possible within the same app. Otherwise what is needed to accomplish this. I know this is different from recording loops and playing with backtracks.
I do not have a daw for the phone or pad . Implan on using Garage Band on a Mac laptop at home worth the. Scarlett to start me out, if this is a viable way to get the basic functionality. I'd like to keep it to as few and as simple as possible. Basic recording for now. Enough to lay a track, some looping...I do not have monitors and any other high quality equipment outside of the Scarlett 212, my Mac,iPad and GarageBand. I do have I shred and amplitude free version.
