I play mostly folk music, all pizzacato work. Have a Fishman pickup on bridge with the dual tabs, going into a Fishman Preamp. Have been having issues with this unit. What do you recommend to replace this set up and still have good sound shaping and volume control to output? Need to upgrade or repair. Ideas?

Double Bass Recommended pickup for Englehardt 3/4 upright?

I’m just guessing that you have a Fishman BP-100 pickup. Probably any other pickup improve your sound. One of Vic’s pickups and a FDeck HPF Buffer preamp
is a great and economical way to go. I also like the KNA-DB1 pickup.

Second thumbs up for the KNA-DB1. I own two and got one for free from the company when I called to get shims for a used one I bought. They sent me a new KNA-DB1 gratis…that’s great customer service to me. Sounds great on my Englehardt and Kay M1s. I usually run it into a TC Electronic BAM200 driving an Eden 1x10. No other intervening electronics necessary…at least for me.
I like the Realist Lifeline on both my Engelhardt and my carved bass. The Lifeline is far superior to the old underfoot design IMO. The Vic's pickups are great too, but need EQ and volume adjustment when switching between arco and pizz IMO.
If I were going to try anything other than my Lifelines, I would order a Yamahiko. The single element Yamahiko can be had for about the same price as the Lifeline right now, however, the original design used two elements and costs almost twice as much. Also, the Lifeline can be found used for $150 or less.
