That's why I modeled the EVM and 3015 for you. Irrespective of the precise size and tuning of the cab the relative difference between the two drivers will remain.
Uh-uh. I wouldn't go Carvin...or, more precisely, I wouldn't go Carvin a second time.
Inexpensive meaning what? < $100? Probably won't happen.

He sold me some awesome Emi deltalite II 2512s for much less than what partsexpress wanted for them.
Dave seems to have the best prices on eminence drivers.
Avatar only makes cabs with 10"s and 12"s in them, so it would be unlikely Dave would have any - maybe an old Delta from three years ago collecting dust, i 'spose.
While that's true, I bought an Eminence Magnum 15LF from him a couple of years ago. He has never put those in any of his cabinets, so it is reasonable to assume he could possibly get the 3015.

That said there is a place where I can get 3015's relatively cheap, I forget the place i think Bill F posted it in the other thread.

Carvin's drivers were just OK, in the past. Their Red Line series of speakers were awful, and I think it tarnished their image quite a bit.
But from what I've read, their new drivers are pretty good. They might be worth a look.

Personal experience. I bought a Carvin replacement speaker about 10 years ago and was...underwhelmed.
The entire speaker industry has evolved in a big way in the last 10 years.

Yes it was, but the success of the BR and BRX lines confirms that Carvin saw the whole Red Line failure as a serious reality check/wake-up call.
I read that they are using higher quality Eminence and B&C drivers now. Everything about Carvin has improved in the last 2 or 3 years, it seems.
As far as the 15" speaker thing goes, I don't really know of anything better than the Emi 3015, for the money.
I think that the improved efficiency, depth, and power handling of modern speakers, coupled with the shift to light-weight, smaller, louder cabs has pushed the 15" speaker out of the limelight.
Seems to me that 12s are the future. I could be wrong though.

Alright, I agree that 12's are the new fad with bass speakers. I see a lot of players ditching fridges for 12's.
However there are still people that like 15's its just not a large number.
I will probably end with a cab with 12's eventually but for now the Mesa will do.

I just got my 3015 from Parts Express today. Free shipping and $20 "Stimulus Check" discount (you sign up on their site for it.) Shipped one day from OH, got it the next day in MI. Great deal, putting it into an old Fender BXR200 that I just use as a cab for small gigs. It's about 2.8 cubic feet and ported, I'll find out later how it sounds.
Edited to add: I pulled the amp out of the BXR200 combo and the speaker, which is 4 ohms. The 3015 is 8 ohms, so note that if you have this same combo, you can't swap out the speaker for the 3015. You could try an Eminence Basslite C2515 Neo 15" which is 4 ohms if you want a direct swap with this combo, but I have not tried it and could not tell you how it would sound.

I was trying to tell you where you could get a good deal on the speakers, I edited to warn anyone else that this is not a direct replacement if for some reason they are using the old Fender 200BXR combo. Not directed to your specific situation.
