I have been very displeased with the sound of my bass recordings by running directly into the board. I don't have the money to buy nice recording front end so I've tried micing my bass cab, but again, my lower end microphones are not capable of really capturing all the low end. So my next idea is to run the speaker output of my amp into my BSS Audio AR-133 DI box. It is designed to be able to run an amplifier level signal through the box and then to a speaker to capture the power amp stage of a guitar amp. As this is where most of the signature GK sound comes from due to the G.I.V.E. tech circuit. I know that the amp can be operated with no load but would running the speaker output into the DI without flow to a cab damage the DI?

Recording a GK 800RB

The output always seemed reminiscent of a poorly designed SS practice amp, then again, the only real time I've used it is at my church where not even the snazziest of sound sources sound worth a darn. It's quite possible that after almost thirty years, something is malfunctioning... Do you know where the DI is located in the signal path? I want to go my route to capture the G.I.V.E. circuit. Is that included in the DI out?
I looked at my schematics to be sure and no, the DI is before the G.I.V.E.
