Recording bass with Moises

Hi,
Bass and recording noob here.. so, sorry for the simple questions.

I am using Moises to learn songs and how to play bass.
I would like to SEE Moises while playing and record the output of Moises (non bass tracks) and my bass to hear how I am progressing.

How do I do that?

Seems to me a single input DI like iRig would not work, but I need something that has at least 2 inputs, like Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, maybe?
Can I have the output of Moises as an input into the 2i2 or other options?

Nah, install a digital audio workstation (DAW) software/ app (i.e. Sonar, Cubase. . . ) on your computer. Import the Moises track (mp3, wave, etc.) into one track then record your bassline on another track. You will need DI interface to convert your analog bass signal to digital and present it to your computer, usually over USB. As you record you'll hear both tracks simultaneously..... I do this all the time.

No need to see the Moises app, in fact it might complicated the process I described. Just download the "minus-bass" file from Moises and import it into a DAW.

I believe he is using the app to view the chords as the song plays. If he ports the tracks to the DAW he won't have access to the app and the scroll of the chords.

Write down the chord changes as they go by. Next while listening try to follow along with the chords on the paper. When you get to the point where you can just follow the paper without relying on the app, not only will you be able to drop the tracks into a DAW to make a good recording but you may have the song memorized.

I dont know what phone or apps your using but if it’s an iPhone, you might be able to do what you want using or AUM as the intermediary, although you will still need to use an orig or similar bus-powered audio interface.

Likely, cubasis could work as well but then you’re just back to the “use a daw” thing, except it’s on your phone or tablet.

if you are using something to run the app on, yes that would be one output, your bass would be the second output. At that point you would need something like what you said, the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or similar to get the two outputs together to go into whatever recording system you use.​

So short answer is yes, you can do like you said in your OP

If OP returns and gives a bit more info about the tools they already have, I’m happy to provide more details. I use Moises quite often, in several different ways, and across multiple devices.

There are also other tools which may be better suited to whatever device you’re using. For instance, if you’re on an actual computer and not something portable, there’s a great standalone program that allows you to remove or isolate tracks (depending on your need) from the mid or side of the mix, or even by the particular sound’s frequency spectrum and it also will output a text file with the chords and progression for you, which you can print out or turn into digital sheets for practice or performance use.

Sounds like he just wants to play the app to see the chords scroll by, use that mix minus the bass and play bass along to the app and capture it as is. A simple setup that he is familiar with right now. Anything else could be too complicated or expensive at this point.

Makes sense. I do tend to over-complicate things sometimes. Hopefully the solutions we’ve all provided will get them what they need!

All I have now is an iPhone and iPad.

I’m just looking for the ability to record my bass over a track and listen to it later to see areas for improvement.

I don't know as I'm not familiar with the Apple architecture but if the iPad is powerful enough, one of those multi-input recording interfaces might work with it and you could do what I described here:

I am with you @DJ Bebop. I have an IPhone and IPad but Moises has proven to be a great asset for those who have a PC running a free version of Reaper. Between Reaper and YT/Karaoke, one has the ability to do it all. I couldn't help the OP either...
