Recording speakers/mic/pre amp combo

After decades of trying combinations this one is really working ... you can obviously substitute around the general concept:

Bass and Amp of your choice into a 10" ceramic speaker pair and a 15" alnico low power speaker.

Soyuz 1973 condenser mic
center cone on the 10"
with a Retro 500 pre amp. Replace the 3rd (bottom) tube to a 5751 not AT7, for more headroom if you like.

Shure 545SD (vintage Unidyne III)
on the center of the 15" alnico.
Retro pre amp as well, with the higher headroom tube if you like

Enjoy :)

$800 for a great mic is not an expensive mic.

It's about priorities. I'm not lucky. Luck has nothing to do with it.
Not everybody can afford to take $800 USD (nearly $1100 CAD before shipping, and a full months rent for some folks) out of their budget to spend on a single microphone, regardless of their priorities. You are lucky and you should be more gracious about it, imo.

Anyway, enjoy your mic 🎤

Again ... we all have the option of what to do with our limited money

We can make life be about whatever we want it to be…

Having $800 and prioritizing differently has nothing to do with luck, I'm just telling you the truth, that's a losers mentality… We manifest results by prioritizing what's important

Luck is no part of it.

I'm not going on vacation or out to dinner or a series of other things, so that I can have the equipment that's needed to be happy

Priorities

Patience

You can buy what matters to you if you really want to

Just wow. :vomit:
Are you lucky to have two basses? I mean from that standpoint we're all lucky to be alive. Sure… we are indeed.

But you chose to have two different basses, you chose to prioritize all of your gear purchases over other things you could've bought.

Luck had nothing to do with that

It's choice. If the idea of being empowered makes you puke. I'm not sure what to say.
