Double Bass Red Eye + FDeck?

I've been happily using a Red Eye everywhere I go. It seems to make whatever I plug into sound better. I recently got a used FDeck for free, tried it out on a gig and liked the result. My questions are: Do these things do pretty much the same thing? Would there be any point to using both at once? If so, which one first?

Isn't the FDeck a high pass filter? I think it would work great along side the RedEye?
correct they are not the same kind of device. i have the hpf 3 inline after a redeye and it is a great combo into the pjb suitcase compact.

the high pass filter is essential to get clarity for me. and the phase switch has been very helpful in different rooms.

I can’t begin to tell you how much time I’ve spent experimenting with those two little boxes order. There’s no wrong answers. A lot of it depends on other elements in the signal chain.

FWIW, I really like what the HPF PRE does to the envelope of a full circle pickup when placed first, even though I have an HPF on my AI amp. Similarly, Vic’s single element really likes a redeye up front. Yamahiko doesn’t like any preamp except tube or the tonedexter.

That’s interesting because I have found the same thing with the Yamahiko.

I used to use an Fdeck on every gig for years. But now, with the Noble and RedEye in the chain, it adds a “rubbery” artifact that I don’t care for but can’t otherwise explain, so I leave it at home.
Why do you use both the Noble and RedEye? Don’t they both do basically the same thing? I guess that’s the same question the OP asked about Fdeck’s HPF/preamp and the RedEye.

Edit: I see you’ve been asked this question before and the answer is: Because they sound good together. That’s all I need to know.

I have Fdeck, Redeye, Fishman and Headway preamps. I find that different amps respond differently to all of them. I was using a Fender Rumble 100 for a short time and that amp liked the redeye in front. I'm using a Trickfish head now and that likes the Fdeck in the effects loop but it somehow sounds slightly 'blurry' into the front of the amp. My little markbass 8" combo likes the Headway.

The Redeye to me tightens up the lows to the extent that I don't feel the need to use an hpf with it. I know some like to use it with everything. It's certainly a great box but on some amps I've tried it feels like it's compressing the sound somehow and I prefer not to use it.
