REDDI Noise - Need help

Hello! Recently i've noticed some interesting sounds from the reddi. The first sound is on the notes themselves (you can hear on a low E early in the clip, it's not actually clipping it's something being added by the reddi) then you can also hear a noise when turning the knob.

Has anybody experienced this? A bit bummed because it's done nothing but just sit on my desk since I've had it, but hoping it's not too expensive to fix! Thanks for the help.

That sounds like a preamp tube crackling. It may be dirty socket due to sitting on the desk or just a bad tube. Easy repair. IRRC it is a 6N1-P or equivalent. Preamp tubes go bad, not often but they do. The preamp tube in my Broughton SSDI went south in 1 year. Some will last over a decade.

I realized “duh I should reach out to the company” after I posted this and they said the same thing. Gonna try this. Thanks so much!
