Redsub head with laney cab

I have redsub bt500h head I use with Laney RB410 4x10 Cab , the amp should be 500w @ 4ohm and the cab is 250 @ 8ohm
But what i get when connecting these two is a very weak sound ... i have to put the ultimate master and half the gain to keep up with my drummer!! ... using a comp pedal helps a bet put i still cant reach the sound i need with all the gain ..
I dont know much about wattage and gear stuff since im from Libya we dont have good music stores here except the chineese poopie! so i dont have any experience..
I use a custume spector with EMG-SSD its great when playing in my room .. but with the band i sound poopie!!
I seek for help ... thnx

First of all, the knob positions alone do not tell anything about the output power level unless the input level is known.


I have about 10 years old Laney 410, no model number but Celestion drivers, a defeatable tweeter and 3 round ports in the middle of the back panel.

The cab I have is not very loud, nor does it go very low, but has kept up nicely with a moderately loud drummer with 100W SS amps.
It's low-mid priced cab after all, so no miracles are to be expected.
IMO a good cab for the money.


There's not much information available about redsub amps, but I'd assume those numbers not to be RMS.

So, at 8 ohms the amp probably puts out ~125W which would still be quite enough unless the cab is aimed at Your legs and the room you guys play in is small.
Or if You play with earplugs on .

I'd find the level where the speakers start to complain, note that as the max level, and back off a little.
Since the cab does not go very low, I'd also rather cut than boost the lows.

I would expect the amp to output more in the 300 to 350 watt range with an 8 ohm load (speaker cab). RedSub is a "house brand" so not many know much about them. Sounds like a budget cab that doesn't output a lot of sound for the wattage sent to it?

Based on my somewhat limited experience on how far east manufacturers rate their amps and cabs, I would not.
RMS, below ~1% THD anyway.

RedSub is a "house brand" so not many know much about them.

Yes, gear4music "brand", supposedly made by Beta Aivin, but still not much reliable info considering how long these amps have been around.
